| He is only 17. The teenagers' idol Marco Melandri, Italian rider who won five 125cc grands prix last season, will be with Aprilia Racing team for three years. In 1998 Melandri was the youngest rider to win a motorcycle grand prix, in the Netherlands with Honda. He is racing now in 250cc., replacing 1999 champion Valentino Rossi who left Aprilia. |  |
