Coming to Venice from Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto Island? You can take a public boat (vaporetto) of the ACTV: lines n° 1 or n° 2 make several stops in the Grand Canal, and they stop at Lido. A private taxi-boat will be faster but much more expensive.
Coming from Marco Polo airport? No use to rent a car if you are just staying in Venice. Better take a taxi or a bus. To reach Venice by water, you have two choices: water bus or a private water taxi.

  • ACTV city bus n° 5: ticket 7 euro (about 25 minutes trip; departing every 30 minutes)
  • ATVO shuttle bus:  (about 15 minutes trip; departing every 40 minutes)
  • Taxi (to Piazzale Roma): about 40/50 euro

Water connections

  • Alilaguna ACTV/Coop. San Marco water bus: fees depending on destination (1 hour and 10 minutes trip)
  • Private water-taxi to the city centre about 100 euro.

Coming by car from Mestre or Marghera? You have to park your car either at garages in Piazzale Roma or at Tronchetto.
