Il Ballo del Doge is an exclusive event in the most evocative city in the world, inspired by the grand Venetian tradition of the magical Carnival; this event is able to interpret with elegance and grace the magnificent and enchanting dimension of the “Serenissima” during the eighteenth century, by transposing it into a world of fancy, where time, if only for one night, is suspended.
Il Ballo del Doge has turned in only a few years into the most exclusive and prestigious Ball in historical costume on an international level. It is widely recognized as an original and unique appointment among the most important cultural and elegant events in the world. History, art, culture, poetry and creativity converge and interact into this event.
Il Ballo del Doge renews itself every year, immersed in the wonderful setting of Palazzo Pisani Moretta, on the Grand Canal. 400 exclusive Guests are plunged into this fantastic atmosphere, which is masterfully enriched and orchestrated by Antonia Sautter . Every year our Guests, dressed with the costumes of Atelier Venetia live both a private, magic and a collective dream, under the twinkling light of hundreds of candles; attended by waiters in livery, while they are welcomed to the Doge’s Court and seduced by Giacomo Casanova. A vision that speaks of elegance from the past, feathers, sequins, tulle, velvets and precious fabrics.
Spectacular surprises and magical dimensions follow one another, introduced by Venetian and International artists. Dinner is prepared by the finest Venetian chefs and tables are set with refined and luxurious taste. Games, invitations and enticing suggestions amaze and confuse the senses between perception and impression. Illusion becomes reality and the poetry of the Dream is an emotion that surrounds and involves you. It is a night where anything could be possible…
To participate in Il Ballo del Doge historical costume is required. A wide selection of more than a thousand costumes is available for rent upon reservation. They are all hand made and their style ranges from Medieval to XIX century “fin-de-siècle”, specializing of course in the prestigious Venetian XVIII century. Should you desire to rent a costume, we would suggest making an appointment for a fitting to be assisted in the best way, as during Carnival the ateliers are quite crowded and busy.
If for any reason you can not attend the dinner at Il Ballo del Doge, you might attend the “After Dinner” party, whose entrance at 11.00 pm coincides with the beginning of the entertainment.
